Bauchi NYSC Coordinator Advises Female Corps Members on Post-Service Decisions
The Bauchi State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Rifkatu Yakubu, has urged outgoing female Corps members to prioritize their families by returning home to their parents upon completing their national service.
Yakubu gave this advisory on Thursday in Bauchi while distributing National Service certificates to the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Corps members.
“Go to Your Parents, Not Your Boyfriends” – NYSC Cautions Female Corps Members
Speaking directly to the female Corps members, Yakubu emphasized the importance of celebrating their achievement with their families rather than moving in with boyfriends.
“Ladies, remember that your boyfriends are not your parents. Do not collect your certificate and rush to your boyfriend’s house. Instead, go home to your parents and share this moment with them.”
NYSC Encourages Skill Utilization After Service
Yakubu also encouraged Corps members to apply the skills they acquired during the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, stressing that post-service life should be productive.
“If you have not learned anything from SAED, it is not too late. Instead of sitting idle at home, find something meaningful to do. Use your last allowance wisely—invest in learning a trade to support your future.”
She strongly warned against engaging in illegal activities such as internet fraud, kidnapping, or ritual killings in pursuit of quick wealth.
Additionally, she advised all Corps members to double-check their National Service certificates for errors before laminating them, ensuring accuracy in their official documents.
1,652 Corps Members Pass Out in Bauchi State
A total of 1,652 Corps members completed their service in Bauchi State, consisting of 1,118 males and 534 females.
