In a shocking development, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended an 85-year-old man, Ibrahim Haruna, for allegedly defiling a 4-year-old girl in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The disturbing incident reportedly took place in the Kongo community of Keffi. According to the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Jerry Victor, who disclosed this during a press briefing in Lafia, the victim’s elder sister noticed that the child was walking uncomfortably, with blood dripping down her legs.

Upon inquiry, the victim recounted her ordeal, alleging that the elderly man lured her into his room while no one else was around. Mr. Victor revealed that a medical test was conducted, confirming that the child had been defiled. He assured that after investigations are completed, the case will be transferred to the state ministry of justice for swift prosecution.

Despite the overwhelming evidence, the 85-year-old suspect, Ibrahim Haruna, denied the allegation, claiming it was a setup. Reports indicate that the suspect and the victim’s family were neighbors within the same community.

NSCDC Cracks Down on Suspected Cultists in Lafia

In a separate operation, the Nasarawa State Command of the NSCDC has arrested three suspected cultists accused of harassing residents and causing destruction in the Layin Yan Kaji and Super Cinema Street areas of Lafia.

The Corps spokesman reported that the suspects were found with dangerous items, including two locally made pistols, live cartridges, phone pliers, ammunition, and scissors.

This arrest follows a suspected cult clash during the 2024 yuletide, where rival gangs caused significant damage in the Layin Yan Kaji and Super Cinema neighborhoods. Six vehicles were vandalized, and a motorcycle was set ablaze during the chaos.

The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to reducing crime, curbing cult-related activities, and protecting public and private infrastructure across the state.
