NPFL 2025/26: Remo Stars to Open Title Defense Against Rivers United

Defending champions Remo Stars will kick off their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) 2025/26 season with a high-profile clash against Rivers United, according to an update by Daily Post Nigeria.

The official NPFL 2025/26 season fixture draw was conducted in Abuja on Monday, marking the beginning of a fresh chapter for Nigeria’s top-tier football competition.

Remo Stars secured their first-ever league title last season and are now set to begin their title defense journey with an exciting matchday one showdown at home.

In other opening fixtures, Enyimba International FC, the most successful team in the history of the NPFL, will travel to face Barau FC, one of the newly promoted clubs making their debut in the league.

Another major highlight on matchday one is the intense matchup between Abia Warriors and Kano Pillars, which stands out as one of the most anticipated games of the opening weekend.

Meanwhile, fans will witness the first Oriental Derby of the season featuring eight-time NPFL champions Rangers International FC, who will go head-to-head against Kun Khalifa FC.

According to the league organizers, the new 2025/2026 NPFL season will officially commence on Friday, August 22.
