Popular Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola has expressed strong frustration with United Nigeria Airline after experiencing multiple flight cancellations during a work trip to Ekiti State. The actress revealed that her return flight to Lagos State was canceled twice within two days, leaving her stranded and unable to meet her filming commitments.
She expressed her disappointment over the airline’s lack of communication, explaining that she was left waiting for hours without assistance. “I was supposed to fly yesterday, but when I got to the airport, they told me the flight was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Hours later, I was informed that the flight had been canceled entirely,” she said.
Ogunmola continued, describing the strain the situation placed on her schedule and finances. “I asked what the next plan was since I urgently needed to get back to Lagos. They had no solution. I even tried other routes, including Akure, but all efforts failed. This morning, I was informed that the flight would depart at 8:00 a.m., prompting me to pay for hotel accommodation and additional expenses. By 6:30 a.m., I arrived at the airport only to learn the flight had been pushed to 9:30 a.m., and later again to 12:00 p.m., then 5:30 p.m. I have filming commitments that cannot be postponed, and my production crew is already on set,” she stated.
Ogunmola stressed that the repeated delays have not only disrupted her schedule but also impacted her livelihood. “This situation is extremely frustrating. It’s not just my time being wasted; it’s also my source of income. I’m in a state where I don’t know anyone, waiting for transportation to Lagos, and I have no idea when I’ll arrive safely. I will be taking legal action because this treatment is unfair, inconsiderate, and lacks basic decency,” she added, visibly emotional.
The actress concluded by announcing that her lawyer will be taking the matter up, emphasizing that her intention is not to engage in confrontation but to hold the airline accountable for its negligence.
This incident has sparked conversations online about airline customer service and reliability, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences of flight delays and cancellations, particularly with local carriers. It also raises questions about the policies airlines have in place to support passengers during such disruptions.
