Nnamdi Kanu: Governor Charles Soludo Reaffirms He Doesn’t Support Biafra Separatist Agenda

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has once again emphasized that he does not support or subscribe to the ideology of Biafra separatism.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with Channels Television on Sunday, Governor Soludo clarified his long-standing stance on the matter, stating that his vision for the southeastern region of Nigeria is one of unity, progress, and development within the framework of a united Nigeria.

Soludo’s Clarification on the Biafra Issue

During the interview, Soludo reaffirmed that while he understands the frustrations and grievances expressed by some people in the southeast, he does not believe that secession or division is the solution. According to him, meaningful dialogue, economic empowerment, and political inclusion remain the best path forward for Ndigbo and Nigeria at large.

He stated:

“I do not believe in the separatist view of Biafra. What I believe in is creating a prosperous, peaceful, and inclusive Southeast that thrives as an integral part of Nigeria.”

The governor also expressed readiness to engage in constructive discussions with the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, upon his release. Soludo revealed that such dialogue would focus on finding an alternative vision for the Igbo nation — one rooted in peace, progress, and sustainable development.

Dialogue and Development Over Division

Professor Soludo stressed that his goal is to channel the energy and passion of the Igbo youth toward productive ventures that can transform the region economically. He reiterated that building infrastructure, attracting investors, and promoting education and innovation are more viable ways to address the region’s challenges than pursuing separation.

He maintained that if Nnamdi Kanu is eventually released, discussions between both parties could lead to a new developmental roadmap for Igboland — one that emphasizes unity, creativity, and cooperation with the federal government.

Soludo’s statement continues to generate discussions among political observers and citizens across Nigeria. Many view his stance as a pragmatic approach that seeks a balance between Igbo identity and national cohesion.
