Nigerian digital influencer and social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), was reportedly taken into custody by officers of the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja.
The incident occurred inside a branch of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as confirmed by VDM’s legal counsel, Denise Adeyanju, through a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday.
According to Adeyanju, “JUST IN: VDM arrested by the police at GTB. Spoke to them before he was arrested. This is absolutely unacceptable. Demanding accountability is not a crime.”
He further elaborated that a police team carried out the arrest. “A team of policemen arrested VDM at GTB. He was arrested with his friend C Park, but they left his mum alone.”
At the time of this report, complete details surrounding the circumstances of the arrest remain unclear. However, additional updates are anticipated as the situation unfolds.
As of now, the Nigerian Police Force has not issued an official statement regarding the arrest.
It is worth recalling that VeryDarkMan was previously detained in November 2024 after responding to a police invitation.
