A Nigerian driver, identified by the first name Kingsley, has been declared missing and is presumed drowned after being dragged under by intense sea waves at Tarkwa-Bay Beach, situated in Lagos State.
According to credible police sources, the two expatriates formally lodged a report at the Tarkwa-Bay Police Division, narrating that their driver had joined them on the trip to relax and unwind. Around 4:00 p.m., he ventured into the ocean, but sadly, the relentless currents overpowered him, causing him to vanish beneath the turbulent waters.
A police officer disclosed:
“Every attempt made to recover his body has proved futile up to this moment.”
In immediate response to the distress report, operatives from the Tarkwa-Bay Police Division swiftly proceeded to the location and commenced intensive search and recovery efforts. Despite these measures, the driver’s body had yet to be retrieved as of the time of filing this report.
This incident adds to the growing concerns about safety protocols and the need for improved lifeguard presence at Nigerian recreational beaches, especially in coastal regions like Tarkwa Bay, where unpredictable ocean currents are common.
