Nigeria has officially been selected as the host country for the 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
This confirmation was made public on Tuesday by the African Union Commission (AUC) in collaboration with the international AFRIMA committee during a press briefing held at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The upcoming event, which is themed “Unstoppable Africa,” is scheduled to take place in Lagos State from November 25 to November 30, 2025.
Speaking about the host city, Angela Martins, Director for Social Development, Culture, and Sport at the AUC, commended Lagos for its track record of successfully organizing major international events.
“Lagos offers the perfect combination of modern infrastructure, robust media influence, reliable security systems, efficient transportation networks, and top-tier hospitality, making it the ideal city to stage an event of global scale,” she stated.
According to the AFRIMA committee, entry submissions will open on May 27 and close on August 8, 2025.
The prestigious event is expected to spotlight:
- Over 1,600 nominees from across the continent,
- A production crew comprising 2,300 professionals, and
- An estimated 60,000 guests and delegates in attendance.
Additionally, the event is projected to attract a global viewership exceeding 400 million, with live broadcasts airing on 109 television stations across 84 countries.
