Thousands of people protested across the U.S. on Saturday, rallying against Donald Trump’s re-election and voicing concerns over his proposed restrictions on reproductive rights and mass deportation plans. Demonstrations took place coast to coast, including large gatherings in New York, Seattle, and Washington, DC.
In New York City, protesters, led by workers’ rights and immigrant justice groups, gathered outside Trump International Hotel, holding signs like “We protect us” and “We won’t back down,” while chanting, “Here we are, and we’re not leaving!”
Washington, DC, saw Women’s March participants protest outside the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank linked to Project 2025. Demonstrators carried signs with slogans such as “Well-behaved women don’t make history” and chanted, “We believe that we will win!”
In Seattle, demonstrators assembled near the Space Needle with posters opposing Trump and criticizing the “two-party war machine.” They called for building a broader “people’s movement” and showed solidarity with Palestinians amid the Gaza conflict. A speaker emphasized, “Any president who comes to power has let workers down.”
Protests extended into Friday in cities like Portland, Oregon, where demonstrators at city hall held signs reading “Fight fascism” and “Turn fear into fight.” Cody Urban from the International League of People’s Struggle said, “We’ve fought for health, housing, and education for years, and no administration has delivered.”
