NAF Airstrikes Free Hostages, Devastate Bandit Camps in Zamfara and Kebbi

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully conducted airstrikes in Zamfara and Kebbi states, enabling numerous hostages to escape from captivity and severely impacting bandit operations. According to Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information, the freed hostages recounted their escape during the chaos following the strikes.

The NAF’s Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma carried out “Operation Farautar Mujiya,” a targeted air interdiction mission aimed at dismantling bandit camps in both states. These precision night raids, executed on November 8, were driven by confirmed intelligence indicating increased terrorist activity in the region.

With the use of advanced surveillance and targeting technology, NAF forces launched surprise attacks on various camps, including a significant site near Sangeko, Zamfara, close to the Kebbi border, and a fortified base belonging to Ado Aleiro near Asola Hill in Tsafe LGA. The operations successfully destroyed a large weapons depot and neutralized many of Aleiro’s fighters, dealing a severe blow to the group’s resources and operations.

“These strikes caused major disruptions for the bandits,” Air Commodore Akinboyewa said, highlighting that the chaos allowed many hostages to flee. He emphasized that the campaign has not only weakened the bandits but has also restored hope to local communities.
