Jose Mourinho, the head coach of Fenerbahce, has been handed a three-match suspension for an altercation with Galatasaray’s manager, Okan Buruk. This incident occurred following Fenerbahce’s loss in the Turkish Super Cup to their fierce rivals.
According to reports, Mourinho approached Buruk after the match and pinched his nose, causing Buruk to fall to the ground. The altercation sparked immediate controversy.
While initially, there was speculation that Mourinho could face a suspension of up to 10 games, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) ultimately imposed a three-match ban. The TFF reportedly took into account that Mourinho was provoked by Buruk at the conclusion of the match, which influenced their decision to reduce the severity of the punishment.
This is not the first time Mourinho has found himself facing a touchline ban this year. Earlier in February 2025, he was handed a four-match suspension for making racist remarks towards the Galatasaray bench during a heated encounter.
