Fire Destroys Residential Building in Oyo, Millions in Property Lost

A raging fire has completely razed a residential building in Oyo town, leading to the destruction of properties worth millions of naira. The inferno, which occurred on the morning of Thursday, March 27, 2025, took place at Prince Bayo Sanda Villa in the Farade area.

According to LMSINT MEDIA reports, the fire was triggered by an electrical power surge, which ignited the flames in the absence of the building’s occupants.

Oyo State Fire Service Confirms Incident

The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, verified the incident in an official statement. He disclosed that the entire structure was engulfed before emergency responders could intervene.

He stated:

“The distress call reached us at exactly 10:35 AM on Thursday. Our firemen, led by PFS11 Makinde, arrived at the scene and found the building completely ablaze. Immediate action was taken to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings. However, due to the intensity of the flames, the entire structure was lost.”

Further investigations revealed that when power was restored, the residents were not at home, delaying any immediate response. The fire raged for about 45 minutes before a passerby noticed and raised the alarm. Unfortunately, many locals were unaware of the fire service’s emergency contact numbers, causing further delays in reporting the incident.

Fire Service Response and Emergency Contacts

Both the Oyo State Fire Service and the Federal Fire Service Oyo Command were actively involved in containing the blaze and preventing it from spreading further.

Authorities have urged residents to take fire safety precautions and familiarize themselves with emergency contacts to ensure quicker response times in such situations.
