Michael Owen Predicts Liverpool And Arsenal As Sole Premier League Title Contenders

Former Real Madrid and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has identified just two clubs he believes will vie for the Premier League title in the upcoming season: Liverpool and Arsenal.

Liverpool, under the guidance of manager Arne Slot, secured the league title last month, marking a remarkable debut season for Slot at Anfield. However, their dominance was challenged recently when they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Goals from Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, and an own goal by Jarell Quansah sealed the victory for the Blues.

Speaking after the match, Owen expressed skepticism about Manchester City’s prospects, citing concerns over squad depth. He remarked, “You can look at an extreme like Pep Guardiola this season and say, ‘that’s why you should have more players’, but he has had thin squads all his life. That bit him this season.”

Owen emphasized the importance of squad balance, highlighting Liverpool’s current setup as exemplary. He stated, “It’s a careful balance, and Liverpool have got it spot on at the moment.”

Looking ahead, Owen is confident in Liverpool’s continued success, asserting, “I can’t see anybody beating Liverpool next year. Man City are miles off it. Arsenal are possibly the only challengers for me.”
