MDCN Extends 2025 Practising License Renewal Deadline For Medical Practitioners

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has provided an additional grace period for medical practitioners to renew their 2025 practising licenses. Practitioners now have until January 7, 2025, to complete the renewal process without incurring late payment surcharges, following the original deadline of December 31, 2024.

Why the Deadline Was Extended

In a recent statement, the MDCN explained that the extension was due to high traffic on the MDCN Portal in the final days of December, which led to congestion and hindered many practitioners from completing their license renewal.

The Council stated that the seven-day extension would enable practitioners to:

Update their personal information.
Pay the required renewal fees.
Ensure their details are accurately reflected on the 2025 Master Register.

Important Note for Practitioners

The MDCN emphasized the importance of utilizing this grace period. Payments made after January 7, 2025, will automatically attract the usual surcharges for late renewal.

A part of the official statement reads:
“We are offering an extension for the payment of 2025 Practising Licence fees without surcharges, valid until January 7, 2025. This move is aimed at accommodating those who missed the December 31, 2024 deadline due to portal traffic congestion. Practitioners are encouraged to seize this opportunity to update their personal records and make the necessary payments.”

Practitioners are urged to act promptly during this grace period to avoid extra charges and ensure uninterrupted professional licensing for 2025.
