Man Arrested for Pouring Hot Oil and Stabbing Wife During Domestic Dispute in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has detained a man, Sholola Kazeem, for allegedly attacking his wife, Sholola Mutiat, by pouring hot oil on her and stabbing her in the head during a disagreement.

Confirming the incident in Abeokuta, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, stated that the unfortunate event occurred on Saturday at the Ring Road community in Owode Egba, within the Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Incident Triggered by Uncontrolled Anger

According to CSP Odutola, the suspect committed the heinous act in a fit of uncontrollable anger following a misunderstanding with his wife.

The statement from the Command reads:
“The Divisional Police Officer of Owode Egba division swiftly intervened in a case of gender-based violence and physical assault against a housewife, which resulted in the arrest of her husband for inflicting severe injuries on her.”

It continued:
“On January 18, 2025, at approximately 12:20 PM, the divisional police officer received a distress report from members of the Ring Road community regarding a violent altercation between Sholola Kazeem and his wife, Sholola Mutiat, who reside at the same address.

“It was reported that during the altercation, Kazeem poured hot oil over his wife’s body and inflicted a stab wound on her head in a moment of uncontrollable rage.”

Victim Receives Medical Attention

The victim was immediately taken to Ore Ofé Hospital for urgent medical care, while police officers inspected the crime scene for evidence.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue into the case. The authorities assured the public that further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
