The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended a 25-year-old suspect, Sanusi Ahmed, in connection with the alleged circulation of fake currency in the state.
Ahmed, who resides in the Sokoto Rima quarters of Katsina, was arrested on May 8, 2025, following actionable intelligence received by law enforcement operatives concerning his alleged engagement in financial crime involving counterfeit currency.
According to police reports, a search was conducted at his home, resulting in the discovery of:
- 345 pieces of suspected counterfeit $100 US bills
- 5 fake CFA notes in 10,000 denomination
- 2 bottles believed to contain charms
- 1 empty bottle of perfume
- 1 white cloth, believed to be part of suspicious ritualistic items
The arrest and findings were confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who disclosed that the suspect is currently being held in custody while investigations are actively ongoing.
The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, commended the officers for their swift response and emphasized the importance of community cooperation in crime prevention. He reaffirmed the police’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and maintaining peace throughout the state.
Law enforcement authorities further advised the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any unusual or suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to support public safety.
