Let Buhari Rest in Peace — El-Rufai Reacts to One-Sided Biography

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has called on Nigerians to allow the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, to rest peacefully, urging restraint in the reactions trailing the release of a new biography written about the ex-leader.

El-Rufai made this appeal while responding to public discussions, interpretations, and narratives emerging from Buhari’s recently published biography titled “Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari.” The book was authored by Charles Omole and has since generated conversations across political and social spaces in the country.

According to El-Rufai, the biography presents a one-sided account, suggesting that the narratives contained in the publication reflect selective perspectives rather than a balanced historical evaluation. His comments appear to address the growing debates and interpretations Nigerians have drawn from the contents of the book since its release.

The biography was officially unveiled a few days ago at the State House in Abuja, an event that attracted several high-ranking government officials and prominent figures from different sectors of the country. Among those present at the unveiling were President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, alongside other notable personalities.

Since the book’s presentation, discussions surrounding Buhari’s leadership, legacy, and political journey have intensified. El-Rufai’s appeal emphasizes the need for moderation, especially given the sensitivity surrounding the memory of a former head of state who played a significant role in Nigeria’s political history.
