Real Madrid head coach, Xabi Alonso, has expressed his satisfaction with Vinícius Júnior’s outstanding display in their hard-fought 2-1 triumph against Mallorca on Saturday.
The Brazilian forward proved decisive for Los Blancos, scoring the crucial winning goal that sealed all three points on his return to the starting lineup.
The encounter at the Santiago Bernabéu did not begin smoothly for Madrid, as Vedat Muriqi put Mallorca ahead with an early header. However, Alonso’s side responded swiftly with remarkable resilience. Within the span of just one minute, Arda Güler leveled the score, and Vinícius followed up with a clinical finish that completed the turnaround.
This strike marked Vinícius Júnior’s second goal in consecutive games, underlining his growing form and confidence after a spell on the sidelines. The victory also ensured that Real Madrid headed into the upcoming international break with a perfect record of three wins from three LaLiga fixtures under Alonso’s guidance.
Speaking after the match, Alonso praised the 24-year-old winger’s contribution:
“Vinícius delivered an excellent performance today,” Alonso noted during his post-match press briefing.
“It was a more complete display compared to the game against Osasuna. Scoring that goal was vital in putting us ahead at a critical stage.”
With Vinícius rediscovering his sharpness and Madrid maintaining winning momentum, Alonso’s men remain strong contenders as the LaLiga campaign gathers pace.
