On Saturday, the armed group Lakurawa launched a violent, unprovoked attack at the Kangiwa border in Kebbi State, resulting in the tragic deaths of two immigration officers and a civilian.
A reliable security source, who requested anonymity, disclosed that the immigration officers were stationed near a site designated for the installation of a transmitting mast when the armed assailants struck. The mast, once operational, was intended to monitor activities around the border and relay data directly to the security database.
Efforts to reach Kebbi State Police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, and his immigration counterpart for comments were unsuccessful, as calls and messages were unanswered.
As of the time of reporting, no official statements had been released by either the Nigeria Police Force or the Nigeria Immigration Service concerning the deadly attack.
