Dolores Osteen, the beloved co-founder of the globally renowned Lakewood Church, widely referred to by family, church members, and followers as “Mama Dodie,” has sadly passed away.
Her son, Pastor Joel Osteen, shared the heartbreaking news via a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday, confirming the peaceful transition of his mother at the age of 91 due to natural causes.

Dolores Osteen was not only the mother of one of America’s most prominent televangelists but also a pillar in the foundation and spiritual life of Lakewood Church, located in Houston, Texas. Her unwavering faith, warmth, and inspiring testimony of surviving cancer contributed to her iconic status within the Christian community worldwide.
Paying tribute to her enduring legacy, former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, expressed deep sorrow on Thursday night. In his condolence statement, he recognized Mrs. Osteen’s enduring spiritual strength and impact:
