Lagos VIS Seizes Over 200 Unroadworthy Vehicles | Governor Sule Denies APC Exit Rumors

The Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) has seized over 200 vehicles found to be unfit for the road in a comprehensive enforcement exercise aimed at enhancing road safety across the state.

This development was made public through an official press release issued on Sunday by the Director of VIS, Mr. Akin-George Fashola.

According to the release, Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, signed the statement.

The statewide operation, personally led by Mr. Fashola, zeroed in on vehicles considered unsafe, particularly focusing on commercial minibuses such as Danfo and Korope.

Mr. Fashola stated, “Contrary to popular belief, this operation does not focus solely on private vehicles. It encompasses all vehicle categories playing a role in the state’s transportation network.

“All vehicle owners, especially those preparing to use their vehicles for commercial activities, must ensure they meet all necessary standards of roadworthiness.”

He further advised, “Before converting your vehicle for commercial use, ensure it passes all necessary checks. You can visit any of our annex offices for a full inspection before putting the vehicle into service.”

Fashola also reiterated the agency’s unwavering dedication to maintaining consistent enforcement strategies to improve safety and efficiency on Lagos roads.

Governor Sule Dispels APC Exit Rumors Involving Buhari, Malami

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has dismissed growing speculation that former President Muhammadu Buhari, former Attorney General Abubakar Malami, and others are planning to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the 2027 general election.

Sule responded to claims suggesting that members of the former Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc were considering an exit from APC due to alleged marginalization under the Bola Tinubu administration.

While addressing the issue in Lafia on Friday, Governor Sule maintained that attempts to cause division within the party have been unsuccessful.

“There’s no movement called taking CPC out of APC,” he declared. “Our father, former President Muhammadu Buhari, is CPC. No one else holds that identity.

“When he aligns CPC with you, it’s aligned with you. When he withdraws that support, it’s no longer with you.

“He still carries his loyal 12 million voters wherever he goes, and he’s not departing from APC.

“People hoping to lure our key figures, like Malami, away from the party will not succeed. Malami isn’t leaving APC.

“That’s why we visited Buhari recently in Kaduna, and we assured him: ‘Baba, you’re not going anywhere,’” Sule emphasized.
