Lagos Fire Service Pulls 32-Year-Old Woman Alive from 60-Foot Well in Ikorodu

In a dramatic rescue operation, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service successfully retrieved a 32-year-old woman who had tumbled into an uncovered well about 60 feet deep at No. 14 Mustapha Bolatiwa Street, off Agric Bus Stop in Ikorodu. The incident took place early Wednesday, drawing attention and relief from residents in the neighborhood.

According to a statement from the agency’s Controller General, Margaret Adeseye, the victim apparently wandered from a nearby building before falling while seated on the well’s edge. She reportedly was suffering from a depressed state prior to the fall.

Upon receiving the distress call, firefighters rushed to the scene and launched an immediate rescue mission. Despite the narrow confines and depth of the well, the crew conducted a careful operation and extracted her alive. She was then transported to a nearby hospital for medical care, with visible injuries to her head reported.

Mrs. Adeseye urged residents to ensure all wells and uncovered openings in their locales be properly secured to prevent such accidents. Also, she commended the rapid response and professionalism of her rescue team, reiterating the fire service’s mandate to protect life and property across Lagos State.
