Labour Party Appoints Senator Nenadi Usman as Acting National Chairperson

The Labour Party’s National Executive Council (NEC) has officially appointed Senator Nenadi Usman as the Acting National Chairperson of the party. Alongside her, Senator Darlington Nwokocha was chosen as the Acting National Secretary. This leadership selection is part of the party’s formation of a new interim working committee.

The NEC’s decision was concluded during a pivotal council meeting held on Friday in Abuja, the nation’s capital. The newly constituted interim committee has been given the responsibility of overseeing all Labour Party operations and administrative affairs pending the convening of the party’s National Convention. At this forthcoming convention, elections will be held to establish a new, permanent National Executive Committee.

Additionally, the council meeting yielded further resolutions vital for strengthening the party’s democratic processes. A detailed schedule was ratified for conducting a comprehensive series of congresses at various administrative levels. This includes ward congresses, local government area congresses, state congresses, zonal congresses, and ultimately, the National Convention.

The Labour Party’s National Secretariat has been instructed to release official guidelines and an execution timeline for these congresses. This step is aimed at ensuring the conduct of transparent, inclusive, and democratic elections across all organizational tiers of the party.
