Kevin De Bruyne Bids Farewell as Rodri Returns in Manchester City’s 3-1 Victory Over Bournemouth

Manchester City honored Kevin De Bruyne with a heartfelt send-off at the Etihad Stadium as they defeated Bournemouth 3-1, boosting their position for a UEFA Champions League qualification.

The match, which marked De Bruyne’s final appearance at home, saw goals from Omar Marmoush, Bernardo Silva, and Nico Gonzalez, propelling City to third place ahead of the Premier League’s final matchday.

Moments later, he set up De Bruyne for what should have been an easy finish, but the Belgian missed from close range.

Bournemouth nearly capitalized on that error, but Evanilson’s effort hit the post, keeping City’s lead intact. City responded quickly as Ilkay Gundogan delivered a clever reverse pass to Bernardo Silva, who smashed the ball into the net before halftime.

Josko Gvardiol’s misplaced pass led to Kovacic’s red card after he fouled Evanilson in a last-man challenge, forcing Guardiola to substitute De Bruyne, who left the field to a standing ovation. Gonzalez replaced him and later suffered a foul that earned Cook a red card as well.

Rodri’s Long-Awaited Return

Daniel Jebbison scored a late consolation for Bournemouth in stoppage time. The defeat crushed Bournemouth’s hopes of European qualification as they remain in 11th place and can no longer reach the top eight.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace showed no signs of slowing down after their FA Cup victory, defeating Wolves 4-2 at Selhurst Park. Eddie Nketiah scored twice, and Eberechi Eze added his name to the score sheet in a dominant display.
