KATSINA, Nigeria — In a significant move to strengthen the administrative framework of the state, Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has officially approved the appointment of three new Permanent Secretaries to serve in the Katsina State Civil Service. The announcement was made public through an official statement by the Head of the State Civil Service, Falalu Bawale, underscoring the government’s commitment to professional governance and civil service reforms.

The statement revealed that the newly appointed officials are:

  • Tukur Hassan Dan-Ali from Danmusa Local Government Area, who also serves as the current Chairman of the Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
  • Junaidu Muntari from Kankara Local Government Area.
  • Yahaya Abdullahi from Safana Local Government Area.

According to Bawale, the appointments were conducted through a rigorous merit-based selection process. All candidates successfully participated in and passed a competitive examination administered by the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, specifically conducted for the Katsina State Government. This process is part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving professional standards, efficiency, and accountability within the state civil service.

The Head of Service emphasized that the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are expected to fully align their duties with the administration’s strategic development plan, known as the “Building Your Future” agenda. This initiative serves as a blueprint for governance and development priorities in Katsina State.

Bawale also charged the appointees to perform their responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and professionalism, in line with established public service regulations. These appointments, which take immediate administrative effect, are part of the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational competence and service delivery.

This appointment marks a critical step in strengthening civil service structures and promoting excellence in public administration in Katsina State. Observers note that such reforms are expected to foster greater accountability and efficient governance across all state ministries and agencies.
