Kano Police Neutralise Notorious Armed Robbery Leader In Gwammaja Quarters

In a decisive security operation, the Kano State Police Command has successfully eliminated Halifa Baba-Beru, a notorious armed robber who had long terrorized residents of Gwammaja Quarters in Dala LGA, Kano.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident occurred on April 22, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., following a distress call alerting officers to an ongoing robbery.

The criminal gang, led by Baba-Beru, was reported to be assaulting innocent civilians with dangerous weapons, prompting the swift deployment of the Kano Police Special Squad.

“Our officers encountered heavy resistance upon arrival, leading to a fierce confrontation. Two officers, Corporal Abdullahi Ibrahim and Sergeant Yahaya Saidu, sustained injuries in the shootout,” SP Kiyawa revealed.

Baba-Beru, the prime suspect, was gravely injured in the exchange and was transported to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital alongside the wounded officers. While the officers were successfully treated and later discharged, Baba-Beru succumbed to his injuries during emergency medical care.

The police have since launched a thorough investigation and are intensifying their efforts to apprehend the fugitive accomplices of the criminal gang. The authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to delivering justice and restoring public confidence in local security.

“We urge residents to continue supporting the police with timely information. The Kano Police Command remains relentless in flushing out criminal elements from the state,” SP Kiyawa added.
