President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers for four major Nigerian institutions, as announced on Friday, December 6, 2024. The announcement came via a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The institutions involved include:
- National Universities Commission (NUC)
- New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD)
- Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC)
- Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI)
Key Appointments and Profiles
- Abdullahi Ribadu – Executive Secretary, NUC
A visiting professor and expert in veterinary reproduction, Ribadu has an extensive academic background, serving as Vice-Chancellor at both the Federal University of Technology, Yola, and Sule Lamido University, Jigawa State. - Salisu Shehu – Executive Secretary, NERDC
A renowned scholar in educational and human psychology, Professor Shehu played a pivotal role in establishing the School of Continuing Education at Bayero University, Kano. He also served as Vice-Chancellor of Al-Istiqamah University, Kano. - Jabiru Abdullahi Tsauri – National Coordinator, NEPAD
Tsauri is an expert in legislative and global affairs with a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University. He has extensive public service experience in democratic governance. - Yazid Danfulani – Executive Secretary, SMDF/PAGMI
Danfulani brings a wealth of experience in banking, computing, and business administration. A former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Zamfara State, he also worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
