Tinubu Approves Key Appointments in Four Nigerian Institutions

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers for four major Nigerian institutions, as announced on Friday, December 6, 2024. The announcement came via a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The institutions involved include:

  • National Universities Commission (NUC)
  • New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD)
  • Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC)
  • Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI)

Key Appointments and Profiles

  1. Abdullahi Ribadu – Executive Secretary, NUC
    A visiting professor and expert in veterinary reproduction, Ribadu has an extensive academic background, serving as Vice-Chancellor at both the Federal University of Technology, Yola, and Sule Lamido University, Jigawa State.
  2. Salisu Shehu – Executive Secretary, NERDC
    A renowned scholar in educational and human psychology, Professor Shehu played a pivotal role in establishing the School of Continuing Education at Bayero University, Kano. He also served as Vice-Chancellor of Al-Istiqamah University, Kano.
  3. Jabiru Abdullahi Tsauri – National Coordinator, NEPAD
    Tsauri is an expert in legislative and global affairs with a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University. He has extensive public service experience in democratic governance.
  4. Yazid Danfulani – Executive Secretary, SMDF/PAGMI
    Danfulani brings a wealth of experience in banking, computing, and business administration. A former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Zamfara State, he also worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
