Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has been officially sworn in as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at the union’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Akinsanya secured the position by consensus during the Quadrennial Delegate Conference held at the Zonal Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State, on Saturday. The election saw participation from four southwestern states—Ogun, Lagos, Ekiti, and Ondo—following the national body’s decision to allocate the position to the region.
Amidst cheers and songs, Akinsanya arrived at the national secretariat, welcomed by a large gathering. He was formally introduced to the National Administrative Council (NAC) and the Central Working Committee (CWC) members before the commencement of the official swearing-in ceremony.
The oath-taking was administered by the union’s Legal Officer, Mercy Ibeh. Alongside Akinsanya, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede and Akeem Adeosun were sworn in as Vice President, Southwest, and Trustee, respectively.
In his remarks, Akinsanya expressed deep appreciation to all the members and supporters who made his election and inauguration possible. He pledged to adhere to the union’s constitution and committed himself to advancing the organization.

“I am determined to lead the union to greater heights with the help of Almighty Allah,” he stated.
He also emphasized the need for calm and unity within the union, highlighting that the welfare of its members would be a top priority.
