Jude Okoye Regains Freedom After Two-Month Detention Over Alleged ₦1.38 Billion Fraud

Jude Okoye, the former manager of Nigeria’s renowned music duo P-Square, has been freed from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after spending over two months in detention.

According to LMSINT MEDIA, Okoye was charged alongside his record label, Northside Music Limited, on seven counts involving money laundering allegations totaling ₦1.38 billion. The EFCC arraigned him at the Federal High Court in Lagos, where he faced questions surrounding financial misconduct and unauthorized diversion of music royalties.

His younger brother and one-half of P-Square, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, broke the news of his release on Wednesday via Instagram. Sharing emotional videos of family members welcoming Jude back home, Paul wrote:

“Jude is finally out after 2 months +… all their efforts to frustrate his bail has finally collapsed. Welcome home brother #judeengees. And happy birthday. Welcome back blood.”

Family Feud Resurfaces Amid Legal Battle

The saga has not only rocked the Nigerian music industry but also exposed the deep rift within the Okoye family. Rudeboy previously blamed his twin brother and former bandmate, Peter Okoye (Mr P), for being instrumental in Jude’s legal woes.

Just last week, Peter took the witness stand at the Federal High Court in Lagos, providing a detailed testimony. He alleged that Jude secretly incorporated a company under his wife’s name and used it to misappropriate royalties that rightfully belonged to P-Square.

The court has now adjourned proceedings to June 4, where the case will continue with cross-examinations expected to shed more light on the financial dealings.

This unfolding drama continues to stir conversations across Nigeria’s entertainment space, with fans expressing mixed reactions regarding the brothers’ public legal confrontation.
