A 20-year-old tailor, Ahmad Garba, has been sentenced to three months in prison by a Jos Magistrates’ Court for stealing six shirts and six trousers. The court, presided over by Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos, delivered the verdict after Garba pleaded guilty to the charges.
In the judgment, Magistrate Bokkos offered an alternative fine of ₦10,000 to avoid serving the prison term.
How the Incident Happened
The case was reported on November 17 at the “C” Division Police Station by the complainant, Usman Mohammed. According to Inspector Ijuptil Thiawur, who prosecuted the case, Garba unlawfully entered Mohammed’s house and stole six shirts and six trousers. The convict was apprehended shortly after the theft.
The offense violated provisions of the Plateau State Penal Code Law, leading to Garba’s conviction.
