JAMB Announces 2025 UTME Dates and Guidelines

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), responsible for conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has officially announced the dates and requirements for the 2025 UTME. This examination is a critical step for students seeking admission into universities, polytechnics, or colleges of education in Nigeria.

Key Dates

JAMB revealed that the 2025 UTME registration will run for six weeks, starting from Wednesday, January 15, 2025, and closing on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Eligibility and Requirements

To register successfully, prospective candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. National Identification Number (NIN): Applicants must have an 11-digit NIN obtained from a NIMC enrollment center or the NIMC mobile app to create a JAMB profile.
  2. JAMB Profile Code: Generate this 10-digit code by sending your NIN via SMS to 55019 or 66019.
  3. Valid Phone Number: Use the same phone number throughout the registration and examination process to receive vital updates.
  4. Functional Email Address: This is necessary for creating a profile and accessing registration details.
  5. O’Level or A’Level Results: Candidates must present valid results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE). Those with awaiting results can still register but must upload their final results to the JAMB portal before admission.
  6. ePIN Purchase: Registration requires an ePIN costing N3,500, obtainable from authorized channels like banks, online platforms, or USSD codes. Additional fees include N700 for registration, N1,500 for the main UTME exam, and N1,500 for the optional Mock-UTME.
  7. Personal Information: Applicants must provide details such as name, date of birth, gender, state of origin, local government area, passport photograph, biometric thumbprint, and signature.

Registration Costs

The total cost for the main examination is approximately N5,200, while candidates opting for the Mock-UTME will pay around N6,700.

Steps for Registration

Follow these steps to register for the 2025 UTME:

  1. Obtain your NIN from a NIMC center.
  2. Visit the official JAMB portal at www.jamb.gov.ng and create a profile using your NIN, valid email address, and phone number.
  3. Verify your profile with the confirmation code sent via SMS or email.
  4. Purchase an ePIN for N3,500 from authorized outlets such as banks, online platforms, or via USSD codes.
  5. Visit a JAMB-accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) center with your ePIN, NIN, O’Level results, passport photograph, and other required documents.
  6. Complete the registration process, including biometric verification and selection of examination date and center.
  7. Print your registration slip containing your personal details, examination schedule, and center. You will also receive a CD with the JAMB syllabus and e-brochure for study purposes.

Examination Schedule

Mock Examination: Friday, March 7, 2025 (mock slip reprinting begins Thursday, April 10, 2025).

UTME Examination: Thursday, April 18 to Sunday, April 28, 2025.

Results Release Date: Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
