Tensions in the Middle East escalated further after Iran launched a series of heavy missile strikes toward Israel and nearby territories following the deaths of two senior security figures. Emergency responders were seen examining the location of a missile impact in Ramat Gan, a city in central Israel, where casualties were reported after the overnight assault.

During the early hours of Wednesday, Iranian forces released advanced long-range weapons aimed at central Israeli positions. The operation resulted in the deaths of two civilians and several injuries. Officials in Tehran described the action as retaliation for the loss of high-ranking defence leaders killed in earlier air raids. Authorities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Iraq also confirmed fresh aerial threats connected to the same conflict.

According to official statements, the missiles used in the strike carried multiple warheads designed to increase destruction and bypass layered defence systems. The attack came one day after Israeli operations in Tehran reportedly killed Gholam Reza Soleimani, commander of the Basij volunteer paramilitary organization, along with senior strategist Ali Larijani, who previously served as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.

The death of Larijani marked another significant loss for Iran’s leadership structure. He became one of the most senior officials killed since the earlier strike that reportedly eliminated former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the opening phase of the war, which began on 28 February when combined United States and Israeli operations targeted military sites.

Iranian authorities confirmed the deaths and described both men as central figures in maintaining internal security during recent protests that challenged the country’s long-standing political system. Their loss has been presented domestically as justification for continued military retaliation.

Medical teams in Israel confirmed that the missile barrage caused fatalities in Ramat Gan while several others were transported to hospitals for treatment. Defence officials stated that the weapons used were intended to overwhelm interception systems by deploying multiple payloads from a single launch.

Video clips circulating online appeared to show a cluster-style munition dispersing above Israeli territory shortly before impact. A statement released by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard indicated that Khorramshahr-4 and Qadr missile systems were used during the operation, describing the strike as revenge for the killing of senior commanders.

Missile and drone activity was not limited to Israel alone. Early morning launches also targeted areas around the Gulf region, where tensions have remained high since the conflict began more than two weeks ago. Several countries reported intercepting incoming threats, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and other neighbouring states.

Saudi officials said air-defence units destroyed a ballistic projectile aimed at the vicinity of Prince Sultan Air Base, a facility known to host foreign military aircraft. In the United Arab Emirates, a projectile landed near a military installation used by Australian personnel, causing a small fire but no injuries, according to government statements.

Security sources in Iraq reported that an explosion occurred inside the compound of the United States Embassy in Baghdad. Details remained limited, and no official response was immediately issued by American authorities. One day earlier, another unmanned aircraft had crashed within the same compound, raising concerns about continued attacks on diplomatic sites.

At the same time, Israeli forces resumed strikes in Lebanon, saying the operations were directed at positions linked to Hezbollah. Air raids focused mainly on southern regions but also reached areas close to the capital, Beirut. A strike in the Nabatiyeh district reportedly killed three people and left several others missing while rescue crews continued search efforts.

Military officials stated that limited ground actions had also been launched in areas considered strongholds for Hezbollah fighters. The objective, according to Israeli statements, is to create a wider security zone to protect northern communities from cross-border attacks.

Lebanese authorities reported that the continued bombardment has forced more than one million residents to leave their homes, representing a significant portion of the country’s population. Government figures indicate that hundreds of people have died since the escalation began.

Casualty numbers across the wider conflict continue to rise. Iranian reports claim that more than one thousand people have been killed, including many women and children. Israel has also confirmed fatalities, while the United States has reported losses among its military personnel stationed in the region. Additional deaths have been recorded in Gulf countries affected by retaliatory strikes.

Concerns about the global economy have increased as the conflict threatens vital shipping routes. Iranian officials stated that control over the Strait of Hormuz will not be relaxed, warning that the waterway remains under strict monitoring. This passage is responsible for transporting a large share of the world’s oil supply, and disruptions have already affected international markets.

Energy prices have surged over the past several days as traders react to the uncertainty. Brent crude oil, often used as a global benchmark, has climbed above one hundred dollars per barrel, representing a sharp increase compared with prices recorded before the war started. Analysts warn that continued instability could place further pressure on fuel costs and economic growth worldwide.
