0 minutes, 51 seconds Read

A tragic incident unfolded at a temple in Goa, India, on Friday night, where at least six people lost their lives, and 55 others were injured in a stampede. The event took place during the annual Shri Lairai Zatra festival in Shirgao village, a popular religious gathering known for its fire-walking rituals, where hundreds of Hindu devotees had gathered to witness a religious ceremony.

According to local police, the chaos that ensued during the ritual sparked the stampede. A police officer, V.S. Chadonkar, from the state capital Panjim, confirmed that “Six people died, and at least eight others were critically injured” during the tragic event.

LMSINT MEDIA reports that stampedes are common at large Hindu religious events across India, where massive crowds often converge in confined spaces, disregarding safety measures.
