Imo State Strengthens Security After Nnamdi Kanu’s Conviction

The Imo State Police Command has intensified security operations across major zones within the state—particularly in the capital city—to prevent any disturbance following the conviction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, by a Federal High Court.

According to the Command, law enforcement officers have been strategically deployed to sensitive locations, public facilities, major junctions, and high-traffic environments to reinforce safety and discourage unlawful activities. This security upgrade is part of a wider plan issued by the State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, who directed the immediate enforcement of advanced protective measures throughout the three senatorial districts.

A public statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, confirmed that the operation is a preventive response designed to ensure peace and stability. He emphasized that the Command is committed to safeguarding residents and thwarting attempts by individuals who may take advantage of the situation to cause disruptions or engage in criminal behavior.

The spokesperson further reassured the public that officers are on high alert and monitoring all developments within the state. He urged residents to remain calm, follow lawful procedures, offer useful information when necessary, and avoid circulating unverified claims that may heighten tension.

The Command reiterated its resolve to maintain normalcy, stressing that security teams are fully prepared to respond swiftly to any threats. Citizens were also encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies as these enhanced operations continue across communities in Imo State.
