Ibadan Magistrates’ Court Remands Two Over Alleged Murder
An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, has ordered the detention of two individuals, Adekunle Isiaka (55) and Clement Ilesanmi (65), in a correctional facility over their alleged involvement in a murder case.
The suspects, whose residential addresses were not disclosed, face charges of conspiracy and murder.
Presiding over the case, Magistrate Olaolu Olanipekun stated that the court lacked jurisdiction to accept the defendants’ plea. Consequently, he directed law enforcement authorities to transfer the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for further legal review and recommendations.
The case is scheduled for mention on May 5.
Details of the Alleged Crime
According to the prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, the incident occurred on March 9 at approximately 2:00 a.m. in the Owode Academy area of Ibadan.
The suspects allegedly caused the death of a 28-year-old man, Abiodun Taoreed, by assaulting him with a wooden stick.
The charges brought against them fall under Sections 516 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000, which address conspiracy and murder, respectively.
