Broadcaster in Fear for His Life Following Radio Show Fallout

An Ibadan-based broadcaster, Tayo Oyeladun, has raised serious concerns over threats to his life following a recent radio program. Oyeladun, who works with Lagelu FM Ibadan, shared his distress in a “Save My Soul” message on his Facebook page on Thursday, alleging that he has been receiving threatening messages since the show aired.

Conflict Arises After Radio Broadcast

According to Oyeladun, trouble began after hosting a program last Saturday, where comments made by a guest sparked controversy. He specifically mentioned that Reverend Peter Olaleye, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Soun of Ogbomoso, reached out to one of his senior colleagues, expressing displeasure over the remarks made during the show.

Since then, Oyeladun claims to have been bombarded with threatening messages and calls from individuals in Ogbomoso, escalating his fears for his safety and that of his family.

Oyeladun Cries Out: “I Don’t Want to Die Young”

Expressing his distress, Oyeladun shared a heartfelt message:

“The past few days have been unbearable for me and my family! I am facing death threats simply for doing my job as a journalist. I believe in balanced opinions and free speech, especially in a democracy. However, we live in a system that favors the elite and those in positions of power.

I have become a target in their political games. There is immense pressure to have me fired! If I lose my job or my life, who will take care of my children? My only offense? Being a child of nobody. Please, my friends and family, pray for my safety. You will hear from me at the right time.”

Soun’s Palace Petitions NBC Amid Rising Tensions

In a follow-up interview with DAILY POST, Oyeladun revealed that the Soun of Ogbomoso’s palace has formally petitioned the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) over the matter.

He reiterated his fears:

“After my last Saturday program, ‘Bosenlo,’ the CPS to Soun of Ogbomoso reached out to one of my senior colleagues to complain about a guest’s comments. Since then, I have been receiving strange and threatening calls.

Now, the Soun’s palace has even petitioned NBC, and despite that, people from Ogbomoso continue to threaten me with all sorts of horrible things. I am speaking out because I don’t want to die young. Shockingly, the palace has not directed this energy towards the guest who made the comments but has instead made me a soft target.”

Chief Press Secretary Denies Allegations

When contacted, Reverend Peter Olaleye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Soun of Ogbomosoland, denied any involvement in the threats.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Olaleye clarified his position:

“I did not threaten him in any way. I only stated that what they did on the program was wrong. I even chose not to call him directly. He promised to send a reaction to me, but claiming that I threatened him is a complete falsehood.

However, I must emphasize that the people of Ogbomosoland are very angry over the comments made on the program, which they found offensive and derogatory to our community. They did it deliberately. I dare him to provide any evidence of threats.”
