Tragedy struck in Adamawa State as a local hunter was discovered dead under circumstances that remain unclear.
The victim, identified as Joseph Ardo, hailed from Kuma, a village located in Suktu District within Song Local Government Area, where the unfortunate event occurred.
According to reports, Ardo, who was among the hunters assisting in maintaining security and order within the community, was allegedly abducted and killed by individuals dressed in security uniforms.
A resident of the area, Atenka John, revealed that the hunter was taken away on the night of Saturday by men believed to be security operatives. Disturbingly, his lifeless body was discovered in the bush the following day with his throat slit.
John emphasized that the gruesome killing has thrown the entire community into fear and uncertainty. He called on the heads of security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force, to urgently investigate the matter and bring those responsible to justice.
Police React to the Incident
In response, the Adamawa State Police Command confirmed that an investigation has commenced.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, explained that the Commissioner of Police had directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Song Division to conduct a thorough investigation into the killing.
This shocking event has raised concerns about security operations in rural communities across Nigeria. Many locals are demanding accountability and transparency to restore peace of mind within the affected area.
