Gunmen Kidnap FRSC Inspector in Benue State

An Inspector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nathaniel Kumashe, has been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor, Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.

Gunmen Abduct FRSC Officer in Benue: Incident Details

The abduction occurred on Wednesday night around 10 p.m., while Kumashe was at home with his family. According to local sources, the armed men stormed his residence, firing multiple gunshots to create panic before forcibly taking him to an undisclosed location.

A witness stated that the FRSC officer had just returned from a wake-keep for his late cousin, whose burial was scheduled for Friday when the gunmen carried out the attack.

Community Response and Security Investigation

Chief Yimam Agbo, a former Special Adviser on Transportation to the Benue State Governor and the victim’s uncle, confirmed the incident. He noted that community youths searched nearby forests overnight but found no trace of Kumashe. Security agencies, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the police, have since visited the area to initiate investigations.

Benue State FRSC Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Ahula, stated that the case has been formally reported to the police. However, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Catherine Anene, mentioned that no official report had reached her at the time of inquiry.

Security Challenges in Benue State

Benue State has witnessed rising insecurity, with cases of kidnappings and attacks becoming increasingly common. Residents have called on authorities to strengthen security measures to prevent further incidents.
