Gunmen Abduct Family Of Three In Kwara State

Unidentified gunmen invaded the home of Alhaji Moshood on Saturday night in Owoyale Agbamu, located along the Oro-Agbamu Road in Ajase Ward 2, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. During the attack, the assailants abducted him, his wife, and his brother.

The shocking incident was widely shared on social media, with community members calling on relevant authorities to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped victims.

A message circulating online read:
“Alhaji Moshood from Owoyale Agbamu was kidnapped along with his family members on February 1, 2025, around 9 PM at his residence in Ajase Ward 2, Irepodun LGA of Kwara State. Urgent attention is required from all concerned stakeholders.”

Security Response

At the time of reporting, there had been no contact from the kidnappers. However, security forces have launched a rescue operation.

Confirming the abduction, Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, issued an official statement on Sunday evening:

Reports indicate that unknown armed men attacked Owoyale village along Oro-Agbamu Road and abducted three individuals: Alhaji Moshood, his brother Alhaji Abdulkazeem Owoyale, and Alhaji Moshood’s wife.

Our operatives, in collaboration with local vigilante and hunter groups, have launched an intensive search operation to rescue the victims unharmed and apprehend those responsible. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.”*
