The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has issued a strong condemnation over the recent deadly attacks in Yelewata and Daudu communities located in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
In a statement released on Monday, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who chairs the forum, labeled the violence a shocking violation of human dignity and stated that such acts deserve absolute and collective condemnation.
“The Nigeria Governors’ Forum stands firmly in support of the mourning families and the Benue State Government during this deeply sorrowful period,” the statement declared.
Governor Abdulrazaq also offered prayers for the souls of the departed, and called for divine healing and comfort for the victims’ families, as well as a swift recovery for those who were wounded and strength for the survivors.
Additionally, the forum pledged to fully support and work with Benue State Government and appropriate security agencies to bring peace and stability back to the affected areas.
“We call on all Nigerians — regardless of religion or political identity — to speak against such violent acts and work together to build a nation founded on peace, fairness, and mutual respect,” the forum urged.
The NGF also extended its deep sympathies to Governor Hyacinth Alia, the state administration, and the people of Benue following the tragic events that struck both communities.
