Governor Yusuf Signs ₦1.47 Trillion 2026 Kano State Budget Into Law

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has formally approved the ₦1.47 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill, officially signing it into law and setting the financial framework for the state’s governance in the coming year.

The budget approval follows the successful passage of the bill by the Kano State House of Assembly, which concluded the legislative process during a plenary sitting held last week. The session was presided over by the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ismail Falgore.

Before its final approval, the appropriation bill underwent an extensive legislative process. It was thoroughly examined by the Committee of the Whole, allowing lawmakers to deliberate on its provisions in detail. After careful consideration, the bill advanced to its third reading, marking the final stage of legislative scrutiny, before it was formally transmitted to the governor for assent.

Initially, Governor Yusuf had submitted a ₦1.37 trillion budget proposal to the lawmakers for consideration. The financial plan was presented under the theme “Budget of Infrastructure, Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development,” reflecting the administration’s economic priorities for the 2026 fiscal year.

The approved budget is structured to ensure the continuation of ongoing projects across the state, while also creating room for the introduction of new programmes targeting critical sectors of Kano’s economy. According to the framework of the budget, emphasis is placed on infrastructure development, economic inclusion, and long-term sustainability, aligning with the state government’s development agenda.

With the signing of the appropriation bill into law, the Kano State Government now has the legal backing to implement its fiscal plans for 2026, reinforcing its commitment to governance, development, and economic stability within the state.
