Governor Sule Approves Recruitment of 1,000 New Teachers Across Nasarawa State

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has officially given his approval for the recruitment of 1,000 qualified teachers to serve in both primary and junior secondary schools across the state.

This crucial development was disclosed by the Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), Dr. Kassim Muhammad Kassim, following a strategic meeting with the executive chairmen of the 13 local government councils held in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

According to Dr. Kassim, the decision to employ more teachers is part of the government’s broader plan to enhance the quality of basic education, improve learning outcomes, and address the shortage of teachers in rural and urban schools. He noted that the recruitment process would be transparent, merit-based, and inclusive, ensuring that only qualified and competent individuals are selected to teach the children of Nasarawa State.

Dr. Kassim emphasized that Governor Sule’s approval aligns with the state’s commitment to meeting the Federal Government’s Universal Basic Education (UBE) standards, which prioritize adequate staffing, infrastructure, and teacher motivation as key drivers of educational excellence.

He further revealed that the recruitment exercise will focus on filling existing vacancies across all 13 local government areas, ensuring that each region receives a fair allocation of teachers. The newly recruited teachers will also undergo a series of training and capacity-building programs to strengthen their instructional delivery and classroom management skills before deployment.

The move, he added, is in line with the state’s Education for All initiative, which aims to ensure that every child in Nasarawa has access to quality education regardless of location or socioeconomic background.
