In a surprising political twist, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pledged allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The decision was announced on Wednesday during a closed-door meeting held at the Government House in Asaba. Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Chief Press Secretary Sir Festus Ahon revealed that the move came after “extensive consultations with key political actors” and was made in the best interest of Delta State’s long-term socio-political and economic development.
Governor Oborevwori, who won the 2023 Delta State Governorship Election under the PDP banner, was warmly welcomed into the APC by top party leaders. His defection is being viewed by political observers as a strategic maneuver that may reshape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
