Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has emphasized the need for newly appointed judges in the state to focus on the swift and impartial delivery of justice, which is essential for reinforcing the rule of law and boosting public confidence in the judicial system.

This directive was delivered during the official swearing-in of newly appointed High Court judges and Shari’ah Court of Appeal Kadis. The ceremony took place on Wednesday within the Grand Chamber at the Government House in Gusau, Zamfara State’s capital.

During the event, the Chief Judge of Zamfara State, Justice Kulu Aliyu, formally administered the oath of office and allegiance to the new judicial officers. The appointees include three High Court judges — Garba Sirajo, Bashir Rabi, and Abdullahi Nasir — alongside three Kadis appointed to the Shari’ah Court of Appeal — Ibrahim Jibril, Muhammad Sanusi Magami, and Sha’aban Mansir.

Governor Lawal clarified that these judicial appointments were carried out through a transparent process and received the endorsement of the National Judicial Council (NJC), the authoritative body responsible for judicial appointments in Nigeria.

In his address, the governor urged the new judges and Kadis to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and neutrality while performing their judicial responsibilities. He emphasized that the realization of a fair and equitable society largely depends on the prompt and unbiased administration of justice.

“As we strive to rebuild Zamfara State and strengthen governance anchored on accountability, ensuring quick and fair justice remains pivotal,” Governor Lawal stated.

He further assured the judiciary of his administration’s continued backing, noting that collaborative synergy between the executive and judicial arms of government is vital for comprehensive governance reforms. Governor Lawal pledged to enhance the welfare of judicial officers through better working conditions, increased allowances, and the provision of modern tools necessary for effective judicial service.

Additionally, the governor highlighted that the newly appointed judges bring a wealth of experience to their roles and encouraged them to discharge their duties with a strong sense of responsibility, justice, and equity.
