Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has modified the existing curfew regulations on motorcycle and tricycle movement within Minna metropolis. The revised curfew will now be observed from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM daily, starting Monday, May 5.

The governor disclosed that this decision was made after a recent security evaluation conducted by the state’s security committee. A formal announcement was issued through a brief statement by the Chief Press Secretary’s office, which was shared on the governor’s verified X (formerly Twitter) account.

Governor Bago, popularly referred to as the “farmer governor” due to his strong advocacy for agricultural development, reassured residents that the change is aimed at enhancing public safety and community stability. He appealed to the public to continue obeying government directives to support the state’s efforts in maintaining peace and order.

It is important to note that this new development comes after an earlier curfew was placed from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, a move that had been initiated to counteract a surge in local insecurity and youth-related thuggery. The revised timing offers slight relief while still addressing the ongoing security concerns.
