Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remain committed and undistracted as his administration continues to deliver good governance and the dividends of democracy across the state.
In a statement released on Saturday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke addressed recent happenings within the party. He praised the loyalty and dedication of the PDP members who contributed significantly to the party’s 2022 electoral victory, despite challenges from internal opposition.
Governor Adeleke emphasized,
“We know the individuals God used to usher us into Government House. We also recognize those who actively or covertly tried to obstruct our path. Many who once opposed us have now joined in endorsing our governance agenda, while some remain on their old stance.”
He assured the party faithful that the PDP in Osun has grown stronger, with several prominent figures crossing over from the opposition, leading to a wider support base.
“Since 2022, we have not lost any true supporter. Instead, our administration’s achievements have attracted new allies and earned bipartisan goodwill,” he said.
Governor Adeleke highlighted that his government ensures fair treatment of all federal constituencies, citing examples such as three strategic cabinet positions being held by individuals from a single federal constituency. He stressed that ongoing infrastructure projects and empowerment programs reach every part of the state, affirming that the administration runs an inclusive, pan-Osun government.
Encouraging PDP members to stay united, Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude for the widespread endorsements his administration continues to receive. He reaffirmed his dedication to advancing the Imole Agenda beyond 2026, saying:
“With strong grassroots support and the goodwill of Osun people, we must avoid distractions and concentrate on mobilizing at the grassroots level. Very soon, within the framework of the rule of law, the issues within the local government system will be resolved.”
Governor Adeleke commended elected PDP local government chairmen and councillors for their steadfastness, patience, and commitment to justice and democratic principles.
“We must maintain democratic patience to secure the people’s genuine choice at the grassroots,” he added.
In closing, the Governor expressed appreciation to groups and individuals endorsing his second-term ambition and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to building a stronger PDP and sustaining people-centered governance in Osun State.
This call for unity comes amid recent developments, including the resignation of Hon. Wole Oke, a House of Representatives member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, who formally announced his departure from the PDP, urging his supporters to follow suit .
