Gombe Police Arrest Two Men for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minors

Authorities in Gombe State have arrested two men in separate disturbing cases involving the alleged sexual assault of minors. One of the incidents involved a 47-year-old man, Mohammed Magaji, who was taken into custody for reportedly assaulting his two-year-old stepdaughter in the Magaji community of Tudun Wada, Shamaki Quarters.

The Gombe State Police Command confirmed the development in an official press statement released on Tuesday by its spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi. The alleged incident occurred on May 5, 2025.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspect’s wife, Hauwau Usman, filed a formal complaint at approximately 9:32 AM. Usman reported that her husband had taken the toddler into his private room around 9:00 AM, where he allegedly committed the unlawful act.

Following the complaint, a team of law enforcement officers was dispatched immediately to the residence. Upon arrival, they successfully arrested the suspect. Both the child and the accused were transported to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe for a medical examination to support the ongoing investigation.

Abdullahi disclosed that legal proceedings will commence as soon as the investigative process is completed.

Another Arrest for Alleged Defilement in Gombe

In a similar incident on the same day, May 5, the police apprehended Isah Adamu, a 35-year-old resident of Golkos Quarters in Billiri Local Government Area, for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl.

According to the police, Adamu is accused of luring the young girl into a home located in Awai Quarters, where he allegedly committed the act. The victim’s mother immediately contacted law enforcement authorities, who acted swiftly to arrest the suspect and secure the scene.

Both the victim and the accused were taken to the General Hospital in Kaltungo for medical assessment. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, according to DSP Abdullahi.

In addition to these two cases, the Gombe Police Command confirmed the arrest of 18 more suspects in connection with a series of criminal offenses recently reported throughout the state.
