Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has strongly denied media reports suggesting he intends to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Ganduje, who resigned from his position as APC National Chairman on June 27, 2024, citing health concerns, described the speculation as nothing more than fake news aimed at distracting loyal party members and creating unnecessary political tension.
The former Kano State governor assumed the role of APC National Chairman on August 3, 2023, following an emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC). His resignation, however, sparked rumors that he and some of his supporters were considering moving to the ADC, a claim he has now officially dismissed.
In a statement released on Saturday, Ganduje’s spokesperson, Edwin Olofu, clarified that the APC stalwart remains firmly committed to both the party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Dr. Ganduje is a dedicated member of the All Progressives Congress. He is not only a loyal party man but also a strong supporter of President Bola Tinubu and his Renewed Hope vision. The speculation about him leaving APC is baseless and should be disregarded,” Olofu stated.
Olofu further emphasized that Ganduje has no intention of abandoning the ruling party at such a critical time. He urged party members and Nigerians to focus on supporting the government’s reform programs instead of spreading false stories.
The clarification comes amid heightened political debates ahead of the 2027 general elections. Ganduje’s stance reinforces the APC’s unity and underlines the ruling party’s determination to consolidate its leadership across Nigeria.
