Fubara Recognizes Reasons Behind Emergency Rule in Rivers State – APC Chieftain

A senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Taofiq Raimi, has revealed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State openly admitted that the severe political turmoil in the state was the reason for the six-month state of emergency declaration.

Speaking during an interview on Prime Time, a flagship programme on Arise Television, Raimi explained that Fubara’s acknowledgment confirms the depth of the crisis that had gripped the state.

According to him, “This has finally settled the lingering argument on whether there was indeed a crisis or not.”

Raimi further highlighted that Governor Fubara pointed out three key players in the crisis. The first was his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Fubara, in his remarks, still referred to Wike as “our leader,” which Raimi described as a positive gesture.

The governor also admitted that he himself was part of the crisis, alongside the Rivers State House of Assembly. This candid admission, Raimi noted, demonstrated a level of political maturity.

In addition, the APC chieftain stressed that Governor Fubara appreciated the decisive role played by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in restoring peace. He described the president as acting “like a father who midwifed and brokered a peaceful resolution.”

Raimi concluded that Fubara’s remarks showed optimism for the future of Rivers State. He emphasized that with peace restored, the focus should now be on sustaining democratic governance and driving developmental progress in the state.
