Suspected bandits have abducted Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu, a former member of the House of Representatives, in a tragic incident that also claimed the life of his police escort.
The attack occurred yesterday evening around 6:00 p.m. on the highway connecting Nunku in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and Gwantu in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Details of the Incident
Eyewitnesses recounted that the bandits launched a sudden assault, firing indiscriminately and creating panic among travelers. In the ensuing chaos, the armed assailants targeted Dr. Kigbu’s convoy, engaging his police escort in a gunfight. Tragically, the officer was fatally shot while attempting to thwart the abduction.
Villagers in the area disclosed that the route has long been a hotspot for bandit activities, making it perilous for commuters.
